The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) opened its vault to the public
on October 20, 2013, as part of the Chicago Architecture
Foundation's Open House Chicago program. Throughout the vault's
83 year history, it has held many items including trading receipts,
silver bars, gold and cash. In the 1990's the vault was used as a coat
room for the traders. Today the vault is no longer used to hold
anything of value but we consider it a (formerly) hidden gem in
Chicago.
